The need<\/u>:\u00a0 The New Zealand dairy industry is aiming for at least half of its dairy herds to have a 6-week in-calf rate of 78%, with minimal hormonal intervention. This is an aspirational goal which sets the performance of the top 25% of herds as the standard. DairyNZ is responsible for delivering this target by 2020.<\/p>\n

What we did<\/u>:\u00a0 In 2011 the Harris Park Group helped the DairyNZ team establish the necessary \u201cscale and speed\u201d of change required to achieve its industry targets. The discussions provided clarity on the fit of the InCalfNZ program with the DairyNZ objectives, what success looks like for dairy farms, a more in-depth understanding of the reproductive target, and identification of essential partners. Following on from this, a detailed three-year workplan<\/a> was produced in a 2013 consultancy.<\/p>\n
